As a visitor, when you arrive at Crossroads with a preschooler, you will go to the sign in desk to check your child in. Here both you and your child will receive a badge with a unique code for your family. If, for any reason, we need you during the service, this number will flash on the screen so that you will know to come check on your child.
Once your child is checked in, you will take him to his age appropriate. Don't be alarmed if your child doesn't want you to leave; this is very common with preschoolers. Most children who get upset stay that way for only a few minutes and then become interested with the toys in the room. If your child does not stop crying, we will let you know by flashing his number on the screen in the service.
In Joy Junction, our preschoolers are divided into classes based off developmental milestones. Our youngest class is Little Lambs and is designed for bed babies to pre-walkers. In this class, your child will hear a Bible story that will be repeated over the course of the month during one-on-one time with the teacher. Also during this time, your baby will be taken care of physically and told about God's love for him.
Our next class is Kid's Adventure Quest. This class is designed for toddlers who are walking and they will stay in this class until they are potty trained. As with the younger class, children in this class will have their physical needs taken care of and will hear the Bible story repeated over the course of the month during one-on-one time. In addition to play time and Bible story time, your child will have the opportunity to color and eat snack.
Our oldest class of preschoolers is called BLAST and is designed for children who are potty trained and not yet in kindergarten. In this class, the children rotate through centers which include games, craft, and snack. Also during our class, we have praise and worship time followed by story time in which we use puppets and videos to reinforce the lesson.
Our last class in the preschool department is Angel Avenue. This class is designed for physically and mentally handicapped children. The goal of this class is to provide one-on-one attention to your child. If you are interested in having your child participate in this class, please contact the church office to provide basic information about your child so that we may be better prepared for your child's particular disability.
In addition to our Sunday morning classes, our preschool department offers several opportunities a year for our preschoolers and their parents to get together and participate in fun activities together. Sometimes these are in conjunction with the other family ministries of the church and other times they are special events just for our preschoolers.
